Part of the simple plan was to make new friends in Boston. In the first few days I had tried smiling enthusiastically at people in the coffee line, the supermarket and on the odd occasion on the T. This did not work.
A much easier approach was required.
Meet Up is a social networking website and my new-found approach to meeting new people. Meet Up brings together groups of people with common interests. This ranges from sailing and extreme sports, to art exhibitions and the theatre, comic book gatherings and knitting brunches, or pub crawls and singles speed-dating.
From the comfort of my living room, I could peruse the Meetup groups online and potential new friends to make. Hurrah.
Next-step: meeting the masses.
